Krishna Shroff recently revealed about his childhood and family life during a conversation on The 50. Actor Jackie Shroff’s daughter said that despite growing up in a film family, she and her brother had a very normal upbringing and were largely kept away from the glare of the industry.He also recalled how his mother Ayesha Shroff gave up a rich lifestyle to support Jackie in the early days of their relationship.
‘We had a very normal upbringing’
Speaking about growing up in a film family, Krishna said that his childhood was surprisingly ordinary.“We are very close as a family because at the end of the day it is just my father, mother, Tiger and I. Having an actor father was never difficult; I realized it only when people talked about it. We had a very normal upbringing,” she said.He said the family deliberately stayed away from the limelight.Krishna explained, “The school we went to was not highlighted. We weren’t always on set. We were very private and kind of kept away. It was a very normal upbringing.”
‘It’s only four of us’
Krishna also revealed how their personal circumstances brought the family closer together.“We lost my grandparents, so there are only four of us. My dad lost his brother when he was 10, and my mom’s parents divorced, so we were never close on that side. The only people close to me after the four of us were my grandmother,” she said.
‘He left everything his mother had built’
Krishna then recalled how his mother chose to live a very simple life after marrying Jackie Shroff.“My mom came from a very good family; her parents were doing very well. Then she married my dad, who lived in a chawl with his mom and dad. She left everything her mom had made, and lived in a chawl with my dad and his parents even after dad’s first film, Hero,” he said.
‘Becoming a mother is the most selfless job’
Praising his mother’s selfless nature, Krishna said that Ayesha always puts her family first.He said, “They lived there for some time, and then they bought their first house where they got married. My mother is very understanding. She puts all our happiness before her own happiness. I think being a mother is the most selfless job in the world.”Krishna is the sister of actor Tiger Shroff, who entered the film industry after her father Jackie Shroff.
