Ghaziabad: The main accused in the stabbing death of a Class 11 student in Ghaziabad was killed in a police encounter late on Saturday night.Officials said accused Asad was wanted in the murder case of 17-year-old Surya Pratap, who was stabbed during a dispute in Khoda Colony on Thursday evening and died on Friday afternoon.According to the police, Asad was planning to meet associates in the Khoda police station area and allegedly intended to escape after collecting money from them. Acting on the information, police teams set up checkpoints and searched the area.Police said Asad and one of his associates came on a motorcycle and were stopped, following which the encounter took place.“Today the police team received information that Asad was going to meet some of his friends in Khoda police station area and was planning to run away with some money from them. Based on this information, the entire team searched the entire area and set up checkpoints,” officials said.Police further said, “Asad and one of his friends were seen coming here on a bike. The police team tried to stop and warn them, but instead of stopping, they opened fire on the police team.”“In retaliation, the police opened fire in self-defense, in which Asad was shot.”Officials further said, “Asad was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. One of our constables was also injured during the firing and was taken to the hospital. Asad’s bike was recovered and the pistol with which he fired was also recovered. The police is thoroughly investigating the entire incident and taking further legal action.”Police said Asad later died in hospital. A constable injured in the firing is also undergoing treatment.‘Have you ever seen a goat being slaughtered?’Surya Pratap, a Class 11 student of a private school and a resident of Navneet Vihar, Khoda Colony, was attacked near Sharma Dairy.In his complaint to the police, his elder brother Yash said that Asad had attacked Surya with the intention of killing him.“At that time, my brother and his friends Ayush and Vicky were with him. Meanwhile, they encountered Asad in the street. He started fighting with my brother and abused him. Asad stabbed my brother four times in the stomach with the intention of killing him. After receiving the information, we immediately arrived and took him to a nearby private hospital, where he died on Friday,” Yash said.Friend Vicky told the police that a youth from the neighborhood had called Surya during the day in connection with Bakrid. According to him, Surya, Vicky and Ayush went to the locality of the accused, where the conversation escalated into a confrontation.Vicky said Asad reportedly told Surya, “Have you ever seen goat being halal?” To which Surya replied “No”. He said Assad then said, “Come, show us (Have you ever seen a goat being killed? Come, we will show you).”Vicky further said that when Surya tried to leave, the accused allegedly started abusing and attacking him, leading to the stabbing.
