There is a possibility of rain, snowfall and storm in many areas on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain, snowfall, storm and strong winds in many parts of the country on Wednesday, with the western Himalayan region expected to see the most active weather conditions.

According to the IMD, scattered to moderate rain and snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir from March 10 to 12, with the intensity reducing to light to moderate rain or snowfall between March 13 and 16.

The weather system may also bring thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-50 kmph over parts of Jammu and Kashmir on March 10 and 11.

There is a possibility of unstable weather in the neighboring hilly states also. There is a possibility of sporadic light rain or snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between March 10 and 16.

IMD has also warned of storm with strong winds in Himachal Pradesh between March 11 and 12 and again between March 14 and 16.

The weather agency said there is also a possibility of hailstorm at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir on March 10, while Himachal Pradesh may see hailstorm on March 11 and 12.

Elsewhere in North India, scattered rain is expected over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh between March 14 and 16, while western Uttar Pradesh may receive light rain on March 15 and 16. Some parts of Rajasthan may also receive sporadic rain, especially on March 14 and 15, with thunderstorms in some areas.

Eastern and central parts of the country may also experience unstable weather. The IMD has predicted isolated rain with thunder and lightning over Odisha on March 10 and 11, while similar weather conditions may occur over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on March 13 and 14.

Meanwhile, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to receive rain between March 10 and 13, while Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand may receive rain between March 10 and 12. Bihar may also experience rain and thundershowers on March 11, 15 and 16.

Despite rain and snowfall in some areas, heat wave conditions are likely in parts of western India.

The IMD has warned of heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over isolated parts of Gujarat and North Konkan on March 10 and 11, with temperatures likely to rise over parts of West Rajasthan and Vidarbha.

Meteorologists said maximum temperatures in the western Himalayan region may gradually drop by 5-6 degrees Celsius over the next week, while parts of northwest India are expected to see a gradual cooling trend after the next few days.
