SIMCON introduces the world’s first large engineering model for plastic injection molding

Aachen, Germany

Simcon today announced the launch of Cadmold AI Solver, the world’s first major engineering model for injection molding. Co-developed with Emmi AI, the new Transformer-based architecture delivers simulation results up to 1000 times faster than traditional numerical solvers.

SIMCON’s new Cadmold AI solver provides injection molding simulation results in just seconds. By eliminating long calculation times, this tool enables engineers to dynamically explore thousands of design and process variations in a single day.

Historically, long computation times have acted as a bottleneck, limiting the number of design variations that engineers could practically explore during the development process. Cadmold AI Solver breaks down this barrier by providing engineers instant feedback on fill patterns, pressures and temperatures in seconds. What once required hours per simulation now takes seconds, allowing engineers to explore more design options during early development.

Importantly, new AI techniques are designed to complement, not replace, traditional numerical solvers. In this new paradigm, engineers use Cadmold AI solvers in the early stages to rapidly explore the solution space and narrow down the optimal process window. Once the ideal design has been identified, the classical numerical solver within Cadmold Flex is used to perform the final, highest-precision validations required for final manufacturing sign-off.

“For decades, the industry has accepted that high-fidelity simulation requires hours of computation,” said Bastian Aoud, CEO, SIMCON. “By introducing Cadmold AI Solver, we are giving engineers a high-speed compass to use during the iterative design phase, while Cadmold Flex remains the definitive map for final validation. Together, they create an end-to-end workflow that is both incredibly fast and reliable.”

Built on a Transformer-based neural network architecture and trained on hundreds of terabytes of data, the AI solver exhibits true geometric generalization. The model accurately predicts complex material behavior and filling patterns for new, unseen part topologies without the need for retraining.

To mark this milestone, SIMCON has launched a free, interactive research preview that can be accessed directly Web browser.

Additionally, the company is inviting interested physicians to apply for its Partner Program. Designed for industrial enterprises, the program gives partners priority access to upcoming capabilities – such as shrinkage and warpage prediction – as they become available. Partners benchmark the AI solver against their own geometries in close exchange with SIMCON’s engineering team, and their feedback directly informs the product roadmap.
