Maharashtra Marathi Language Minister Uday Sawant has said that the state government’s decision to conduct Hindi language test for gazetted and non-gazetted officers has been put on hold. This step has been taken amid opposition from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Uday Sawant said, “Spoke to Chief Principal Secretary (Marathi Language Department) Kiran Kulkarni. The exam has been put on hold.” He said they have to figure out whether testing is really needed. Marathi language minister Uday Sawant said, “In future, if we feel it is a puzzle, we do not organize it.”

‘Government is running Hindi car’- MNS leader
On the other hand, MNS Mumbai unit chief Sandeep Deshpande said that his party government condemns the decision of Hindi Manch. Deshpande warned that it would be the responsibility of the state government to investigate any irregularities taking place outside.

‘Only Marathi language is most important’
Raj Thackeray’s MNS says that only one language should get the most importance in Maharashtra and that is Marathi. The party warned that if this Hindi test was conducted then Raj Tech workers would protest strongly. Whatever situation arises in the state, it will be the responsibility of the Maharashtra government. Seeing the huge controversy, the government has decided to ban Hindi examination.
What were the Hindi language test rules?
For your information, according to the Maharashtra Civil Services (Hindi Language Test) Rules, 1976, knowledge of Hindi was mandatory for every gazetted and non-gazetted ministry of the state government. Hindi was not studied in 10th class, he had to pass Hindi exam within a limited time after joining government service. If this examination is not cleared then salary and grocery store could be kept.
