If you are also troubled by the increasing cost of petrol, then you may get relief news in the coming time. The government is now going to bet big on such a fuel which will be much cheaper than petrol and will also boost the already existing ethanol production in the country. E85 fuel is being introduced, which includes up to 85 percent ethanol principle. The government keeps its price low, promotes full stations in universal and is preparing to promote flex-fuel companies. Hero’s new flex-fuel bike and Maruti’s flex-fuel WagonR are ushering in similar changes.
Bihar, Central Government is preparing to implement E85 fuel on a large scale. Today Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new flex fuel version of its famous family car Maruti Wagon R. E85 fuel will be much cheaper for the general plant and natural gas of this company.
Puri said, “Today there are two-wheelers worth 30 crores in the country and two-wheelers worth 37 lakhs in other countries. When flex full is used on a large scale in these groups, its impact will also be huge. The increased use of flex in the country can make a big difference to the shares of ethanol.” According to the minister, if 50 percent of the vehicles in the newly sold panel are launched with flex-fuel technology, then the demand for ethanol may increase by about Rs 400 crore. This will not only promote alternative forests but will also help in making headway on the country’s fuel supply.
What is E85 fuel and why is it special?
E85 is a special type of fuel that contains a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol. It can only be used in flex-fuel blends, in which most ethanol blends are designed to run. The government may soon issue draft rules related to E85. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has already proposed changes in Railways to promote the use of alternative fuels like E85, E100, Bio Diesel and Suri-C NG.
The government is also planning to introduce E85 fuel. Initially 50 to 100 E85 fuel stations will be started in Delhi-Mazin and Mumbai-Pune-Nagpur. After this, a target has been set to increase the unique number to around 500 stations by December this year. The government plans to install around 5,000 E85 fuel stations in major cities of the country by the end of 2027.
Arrival of the Flex-Fuel Orchestra
With this initiative of the government, vehicle manufacturers have also started launching flex-fuel models. Hero MotoCorp recently introduced flex-fuel versions of the Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe. These motorcycles can run on ethanol blending ranging from E20 to E85. The price of HF Deluxe Flex Fuel has been fixed at Rs 72,792, while the price of Splendor+ Flex Fuel has been fixed at Rs 82,710 (ex-showroom).
Today Maruti Suzuki has also introduced its WagonR Flex full car. This is believed to be the country’s first flex-fuel car. Based on the company’s 1.2-litre K12N petrol engine, this car can run on ethanol blending ranging from E20 to E85. It is available only to fleet operators and cab aggregator companies like Ola-Uber. Later the company can also launch it as a private business.
