Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding in 2017 remains a benchmark when it comes to celebrity weddings and even years later, fans are still binging videos and pictures of the couple’s big day. It was one of the most tightly guarded celebrity cases in recent memory. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, which was attended by about 40 close friends and family members. Despite a strict guest list, an unexpected intruder managed to breach the security, almost like ‘3 Idiots’, where Aamir Khan entered a wedding. In a recent interview, Yasin Khan, founder of the security agency appointed for the event, revealed how the breach occurred.“A gatecrasher, dressed exactly like the Maharaja, came in a BMW, accompanied by two bouncers in a safari,” he said during a conversation with Hindi Rush. “I was not present at the gate. I was on the main floor where the wedding was taking place. My team was there. We know the gate crashers by face. My supervisor was suspicious so he informed the event management team.”
However, the event staff, mostly young trainees, were convinced that the man was a legitimate guest, mainly due to his grand entrance in a luxury car. As a result, he was allowed inside. “When I caught sight of him, he would stay in the corner. His security guards would take his picture with some celebrity, after which he would go to the corner. If you are a guest, you will mingle with others at a wedding,” Khan said.Suspicious of her behaviour, Khan decided to dig deeper. The man claimed to be the nephew of a prominent invitee who could not attend the Italy ceremony.Khan recalled, “So, I went to Virat’s manager and asked him if the guest was invited. He told me no, he was only invited for the Delhi wedding reception. So, I went back to the gatecrasher and told him that only invited guests are allowed. He took some stance before walking out.”Khan also talked about another challenging high-profile marriage, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer SinghCelebration of. After their Lake Como ceremony, the couple hosted a grand reception in Mumbai which was attended by a huge crowd including hundreds of media personnel and fans. Due to a lapse in coordination with the event team, the crowd was mistakenly directed towards the wrong exit, causing chaos. “It became very difficult. There were only 20 security guards there. Because the pressure from the public becomes too much. They pushed me so hard that my hand became numb. I later found out that my shoulder had dislocated,” Khan said.
