Earlier, Chahal on Thursday had said that he has been suffering from dengue and chikungunya, due to which he had to miss the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final between Haryana and Jharkhand.
With leg spinner Chahal out before the big game, Haryana struggled with the ball and suffered a 69-run defeat to an Ishan Kishan-inspired Jharkhand.
Chahal wished his team all the best before the final, but the result was not in Jharkhand’s favor.
Chahal tweeted, “All the best to my team Haryana for the SMAT final. I wanted to be a part of the team but unfortunately I am suffering from dengue and chikungunya, which has really taken a toll on my health. The doctors have said to just focus on rest and recovery. I will be back on the field soon and will bowl to my best.”
During the match, India’s out-of-form wicketkeeper-batsman Kishan made a compelling case for a comeback in T20Is with a fighting century to lead Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title.
Kishan continued the trend of hitting sixes and played a brilliant inning of 101 runs in 49 balls by hitting 10 sixes, due to which Jharkhand scored 262 runs for 3 wickets.
Jharkhand’s bowlers, led by medium pacer Anukul Roy, struck twice in their opening overs while his side made the break with regular wickets to bowl out Haryana for 193, despite a fighting half-century from wicketkeeper-batsman Yashvardhan Dalal (53).
