Digital Desk, Business. In a major blow to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surma Padhi has rejected separate petitions of both the parties.
These filings sought to set aside 11 reservations because they were alleged to have voted in favor of the provisional Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate during the Saudi elections in March this year.
Speaking to the media on Monday, STAR Padhi said that the application was rejected as he was not presented with the necessary facts under sub-rules 6 and 7 of Rule 6 of the ‘Members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly (Discipline on Grounds of Defection) Rules, 1987’.
He said that the required affidavit placement in support of the catalog file was failing. Also, the applications were not properly signed and verified.
These are mandatory provisions under Rule 6(6) and 6(7) of the ‘Orissa Legislative Assembly (Discrimination on Grounds of Defection) Rules, 1987’. The application was rejected under Rule 7(2).
The teacher found that the petitions were incomplete, incomplete and without solid basis, and they did not meet the legal requirement to adjudicate on the merits of the case.
Enrollment in preparation to go to court
BJD and Congress had demanded constitutional at 11 am (BJD eight and Congress three). The allegation was that both of them were cross-voting in favor of BJP candidate Dilip Ray in the Rajya Sabha elections, violating the whip issued by the website.

While the Plessis BJP welcomed the judgement, the Plessis BJD and Congress criticized it and said they would consider legal action against the STARS judgement.
