Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) chaired a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the measures taken by various ministries and departments, and also discuss further initiatives in the context of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The Cabinet Secretary briefed about the supply of petroleum products, especially LNG/LPG, and the action taken to ensure adequate power availability, an official release said.
“The Cabinet Secretary briefed about the supply of petroleum products, especially LNG/LPG, and the action taken to ensure adequate power availability,” the government said in a release issued after the meeting. “The sources for purchase of LPG are being diversified with new inflows from different countries.”
The Cabinet Secretary told Mr Modi that Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is being sourced from various countries and LPG prices for domestic consumers remain the same as before the crisis.
He also talked about various initiatives taken to increase the number of piped natural gas connections in the country.
“The Prime Minister assessed the availability of critical needs for the common man,” the release said. “He discussed the availability of fertilizers in the country and the steps being taken to ensure their availability in the Kharif and Rabi seasons. He said that all efforts should be made to protect citizens from the impact of this conflict. The Prime Minister also stressed on the smooth flow of authentic information to the public to stop those spreading misinformation and rumours.”
According to the release, Mr Modi directed all concerned departments to take all possible measures to “alleviate the problems of citizens and areas” affected by the current global situation.
