AI connectivity expands across four continents
Infrastructure is fundamental to prevent the digital divide from becoming an AI divide. Today we’re announcing US-India Connect, a collaborative infrastructure initiative led by our AI infrastructure investment of $15 billion over five years To increase the reach, reliability and resilience of digital connectivity in India across four continents.
In collaboration with local partners, US-India Connect will establish a new international subsea gateway at Visakhapatnam (Vizag); Three new waterways connecting India with Singapore, South Africa and Australia; and four strategic fiber-optic routes that increase network flexibility and capacity between the United States, India, and multiple locations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Connecting the East Coast of India (Vizag)
We are developing a direct fiber-optic path between From the east coast of India to South Africa, Vizag and Chennai. when combined with equiano And Nuvem Undersea cable system, it will create a redundant high capacity route connecting Vizag to the US East Coast around Africa.
Additionally, we are providing a direct route between Vizag and Singapore. when combined with bosun And Tabua Undersea cable system, it will create a South Pacific route connecting the US west coast through Australia to Vizag.
These investments will establish Vizag as a major international sub-sea gateway, adding significant diversity to the existing landings in Mumbai and Chennai. For a country of over 1 billion people, this will increase the resilience of India’s digital backbone and improve economic security.
