Outrage over video of parcel being thrown on railway track in UP;

New Delhi: A video from Uttar Pradesh’s Maa Belhadevi Dham Pratapgarh railway station has created outrage online, showing India Post personnel carelessly throwing mail bags and parcels on the railway tracks on the platform. The incident occurred on November 23 at around 4:25 pm.The person who made the video said he was shocked by what he saw. After initially looking on in disbelief, he soon began laughing in surprise and began recording the scene. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “India Post is delivering parcels, but not in the way one thinks. They are throwing parcels on railway tracks – a train can easily run on all these parcels.”Pointing to the parcels lying on the tracks, he says sarcastically, “Just look at how politely they are throwing your parcels away. Imagine if one of these people had a brand new iPhone. And remember, this is not garbage. These are parcels that someone’s loved ones might have sent.”Finally, the man calls the workers, and urges them to “keep throwing parcels”, but is later told to stop the recording. The employees reportedly stopped their work after seeing the cameras.The clip, titled “Wow, @railminindia @indiapost_dop Wow!! Love your care for our parcel!”, quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism.In response, India Post said: “We deeply regret the incident depicted in the video. Cognizance of the matter has been taken and necessary action has been initiated. We are all committed to ensuring safe handling of mail.”Prayagraj Postal Region also issued a statement confirming, “The outsider involved in mishandling the mail bag has been removed. Action has also been initiated against the supervisors for negligence. Railways have been requested to provide ramps for proper movement of mail bags.Social media users expressed surprise at the careless handling. A commenter wrote, “Good work brother,” while another user tagged the department, saying, “This is the lack of monitoring and strict punishment. Due to this process parcels often get torn and damaged. They think being a government employee means salary and increment without responsibility.”
